This week I’m recapping our time in Chapel Hill! In case you missed it, catch up on Day One here

We woke up to a chilly fall morning on Wednesday, which was perfect because we had a coffee truck waiting on our attendees when they arrived! I had the most amazing pumpkin spice latte – made with real pumpkin (move over, Starbucks).

After grabbing our caffeine we headed inside to get started. Our morning sessions included “Strategic Goal Setting for the Creative” with Lauren Hooker of Elle & Company and “Using Your Contract to Improve the Client Experience” with Christina Scalera. After learning so much from these two, students moved to the courtyard where amazing totes from Greige Design with name tags by Alyssa Thiel of PCB Home were waiting on them. Kaylyn Hewitt of True Vine Studios taught the ladies how to create centerpieces (student work to come!), which turned out beautifully. It was so fun to see the same principles of design we discussed the night before take new life in their flowers!

After lunch, we jumped into more classroom sessions: “Managing & Making More Money as an Entrepreneur” with Dominique Broadway, and four breakout choices, “Social Media Marketing” led by myself and Alyssa Thiel, “Building Meaningful & Strategic Business Partnerships” with Kelly Hovis and “Is an LLC the Right Choice for My Business” with Christina Scalera

We ended the day with a tabletop styling led by Stephanie Scholl of Stephanie Scholl Events. Attendees got to style with china from Southern Vintage Table and details from Paisley & Jade. I firmly believe as creatives we need to create. Which is why we mix classroom talks with hands-on sessions – to give you information and experience! It was so fun to see the attendees create such different and lovely designs given the same resources. I can’t wait to share their student work with you in a couple of days!

As the ladies headed back through the chapel to leave for the day, we had more surprises waiting for them! They were gifted with gorgeous robes from Plum Pretty Sugar, eye masks from Sleepy Cottage, tinted moisturizer from Cosmedicine, and bars of soap from Nubian Heritage. All to encourage a restful evening of self-care!
